Steadman Vincent Sanford papers, 1865-1970.

The collection consists of correspondence dealing with University of Georgia business, texts of speeches and writings, photographs and approximately 75 scrapbooks dealing with the University, education, and Sanford himself. A portion of the correspondence deals with the events surrounding the October 12, 1929 Yale-Georgia stadium dedication game. Also included is a letter from then governor of New York Franklin Roosevelt declining an invitation to the November 9, 1929 UGA-NYU game in New York. The Phi Kappa Literary Society Minutes 1897-1909 are also included. A box inventory is located in a folder at the beginning of Box No. 1.

Steadman Vincent Sanford was born in Covington, Georgia on August 24, 1871 to Charles Vincent and Lizzie (Steadman) Sanford.
